Elric of Melniboné and the world he inhabited remain to this day one of the highlights of fantasy literature/art for me. Michael Moorcock's anti-hero has influenced countless of creatives since his introduction in 1972, and there are countless renditions of him by artists of all kinds. In this first painting of him I wanted to show the quiet strength of the character, but also the possessive even "greedy" grip he has on Stormbringer. While the initial drawing and values were done digitally, the final painting was done in oils.
